Any info on a Butler derringer in 22 short, swing out barrel, single shot? Thanks.

    Can anyone tell me about a Butler Derringer 22 it is gold plated(??) with pearl handles(??) Very nice shape in a wooden display box.
    Can anyone share any info on this one.

    They were made For Colt first then Butler started selling them under their own name . Not really a High quality item but as they say if you need it better then no gun at all.[;)] . Just hope if you miss the bad guy does not know it is a single shot. [}:)]

    They also sold a .22 short version without the recoil plate. If that's missing on yours, it's worthless.

    As with Colts, there were many finishes, grips, casings, & other variations. If any part is gold washed, be aware that handling it will remove the finish.

    The frame and barrel, of either the Colt or Butler marked derringers, are made of pot metal. The rifled bore is pot metal, not having a rifled steel liner. Continued use will eventually wear out the rifling. Use of only standard velocity .22 shorts is recommended.
