My friend has aquired an winchester 1894 lever action 30-30. We have researched it and found it was made in 1907 and has an octogon barrel. However, the original sights were removed and replaced by lyman ghost ring or peep sight. It is in very good condition.

My question is does any have an idea on what the value of a rifle like this is?

I have a winchester mdl 94 30-30 it has what I would guess to be brass plating on the receiver and barrel bands . The barrel has "antlered game" stamped in it with gold letters. There is also a medallion in the stock that has an elk, caribou, moose and deer on it. My question is what is the value in good condition is is no ag08288 . There is some severe rust on the receiver back by the tang that goes to the stock so bad the plating is gone and metal is severly pitted. Is there any way to repair this damage the gun is unfired and otherwise in new condition.

Try posting good, clear pictures of your rifle that show all markings such as barrel address, serial number, and the upper tang, to include, the sights, muzzle, and buttplate in accordance with the instructions noted here: http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=219348

GB's resident expert on Winchesters, Bert, will be back around the first of the month to help you. If you get your pics up before then, some other folks might be able to help as well.

More info is needed to evaluate the rifle. With the limited details you provided, the rifle is worth between $300 - $1300. The loss or replacement of anything original ie: sites, will greatly affect the value.

Please post a few pictures of the sights. It is very possible that they are factory original versus being replacement sights. Winchester very frequently used Lyman sights (special order). The front sight is most likely a No. 5 series combination sight, and the tang peep sight is either a No. 1 or a No. 2 series.
