I bought a Smith & Wesson model 28-2 Highway Patrolman .357 today, and I have been trying to find out how old it is, etc. It was so fun shooting it today!

Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson indicates your revolver was made between 1975 and 1977.

Probably the earlier date. My 28-2 is N507xxx and it was made in 1978.

Bought one myself several years ago at a pawn shop. Bargain price of about $250 because nobody wants these like they used to AND this one had obvious surface rust and had been refinished. Has polish marks and some rounded-off corners but insides look perfect and it functions like a dream. At least I'm not afraid of messing up a cherry finish. Serial No. N56 XXX; don't have any idea about the date. Unlike some .357's I've had in the past, it shoots 38's and .357's equally well.

Anybody have any idea as to the best place to get a replacement rear sight assembly? There's something messed up in the windage adjustment gear and I'd like to replace it.
