Scope for Rifled Shotgun

I would like to purchase a rifled 20 ga and add a scope. My question is do I really need a scope made for a shotgun with the parallax set at 75 yards or will a Leopold VX11 rifle scope be just fine? Thanks for your help.

Hello the parallax on any good quality rifle scope normally 100 yards would not be off more then 1 inch at 75 yards so being this is a shotgun I think it is a moot point. Have you ever thought about a Red Dot sight they have no Parallax and easy to get a fast sight picture. you can keep both eyes open.

Thanks and yes I used to have a Holosight on my Ithaca pump, that was not a good set up for me. If the law would allow it I would continue to use my muzzle loader thru shotgun season but since I have to hunt with a shotgun in this particular county I prefer to use one as close to a rifle as possible. In another county where rifles are allowed I kill deer frequently at close ranges with regular parallax scopes so like you said I guess its no big deal.
    Thanks Again,
    Bill

I have an Encore 20g and use an older pentax lightseeker 2-8. Great scope and super accurate gun. Most 3 shot groups at 100y have 2 holes touching and the 3rd less than 1" away (2 moa gun). I had to try a lot of different slugs (~8) and finding 2 that shot really well.

    For scopes I would use a 2-7, 1.5-5, variable smaller than 3-9.
A VX II will be fine. You don't need a shotgun specific scope.

A Leupold VX II would be an excellent choice.
