I have a 222 MAG made with HERTERS parts...This gun is a single shot...Question is, should I keep it or try to trade / Sell it for a 223? The guys here helped me out before with info on finding out what it is, not sure what to do...

Thanks Shute, I was not sure how that was done sa I took the gun apart and could not see any sign of a splice...

Being you are thinking about selling I take it that there are some things you don't personally like "caliber/single shot/looks/etc" I don't keep guns I don't like because I lust over many I don't have yet . My advice is to sell it but be aware the things you don't like about it will be the same things that hurt the value when it comes to selling.

I like the gun, just not the Single Shot part, I could get the magazine and new stock I suppose, just looking for ideas...

Sweet looking rifle! It's missing the magazine or it's not set up for a magazine?

What exactly is wrong with the stock?

If you decide to sell it, I would like to see it on GB. I'm looking for something on that order for my 12 year old daughter.

    MT357,

Here are the background threads to this one:

    gregw,

I think the rifle is worth more if you put the effort into the stock and magazine than if you tried to sell it and buy something different.

    Best.

Didn't notice the stock until nn pointed it out. That's kind of a strange stock.

MT, nothing wrong with the stock except it is a single piece of wood where the magazine should be...This is what is making it a single shot and forcing me to buy a new stock for it,,,as NN pointed out, it looks spliced but I am not a gunsmith and do not see how it was done...anyway just looking for some ideas.

    gregw,

Offers to buy, sell or trade are not allowed on the GB forums. The forums are supported 100% by the Gunbroker Auctions and these activities run counter to that support.

    Best.

I have a friend who has a 222 mag gun and finds it almost impossible to find factory loaded ammo. Unprimed brass can be had if one handloads

Beautiful looking rifle. My recommendation would be to handload. Or set the barrel back and have it rechambered to 223...my first vote would be to keep it a 222 Mag. Its a great varmint round.

That's not a spliced stock. I have some like it and I love them.

They graft English walnut trees onto black walnut stumps because the black walnut has a better, stronger root system. That thing that looks like a splice is where the 2 trunks joined when growing.
