I purchased today at a great price a 1911 with an essex frame but a remington rand slide. it appears to be type III later production and very clean. I do not see a serial number on this slide and plan to modify, but before i screw up the value I would like some input as to the worth if any. Thanks

Some essex frame are very good and others are junk (far from being in spec's but if you buy a new slide and have it fitted along with a barrel properly fitted plan on keeping the pistol it will be a long time before you get your money out of it. I suggest if you want a shooter just keep it as is "PRAISE THE HARD-BALL GUN'
