Who has good pricing right now for .223 and 7.62X39 ammo in 500- to 1000-round quantities?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Expensive.... I recently saw .223 SS109 for 459 a thousand, .223 wolf for 259 a thousand and 7.62 wolf for 239 a thousand.

If you shop around you can get Wolf in the 200-210 ranger for both calibers. However whether the place will have them instock is another thing.

For brass ammo you are looking in the 350-400 dollar range easy. The war on terror, high metal costs, and the falling US Dollar are really killing the consumer on the ammo market.

Have you given any thought to reloading for the .223.....you can still get fmj and PSP bullets for reasonable prices... usually 65-75 a thousand. The cost of the reloader will be made up in the first thousand rounds, and you will have a cool new hobby.

    ladams (and all who answered),

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, the answers you gave mirror what I've been able to find so far. I guess I may as well dive in and do it.
I do reload for cowboy action shooting and have a Dillon650, so I have the equipment. I need some ammo for my SKS to play with too, so I need to get some 7.62X39 as well. Thanks again for your help!

I'm just getting into .223. I inherited an older (1978ish)stainless Ruger Mini-14 along with several other guns. It's in pretty good shape; I don't think my father-in-law put more than twenty or thirty rounds through it. He had a case of 1000 Federal brass cased ammo for it, but I don't want to shoot cans with those. I'll get a case of the steel-cased ammo and see if I can find some inexpensive components reload.

    Try ammoman.com for the 7.62X39 about 188 per 1000

I wouldn't suggest steel cased ammo in the Mini's tight chamber. You might get extration problems.

That $189 shipped Golden Tiger 7.62x39 at Ammoman.com is good ammo.

The steel case stuff works just fine in your ak OR SKS.
