This a hammerless .38 mod. 490 S & W (I cannot find info. on this model anywhere). I am just wondering what its worth. It is not new. It does have some wear on the cylinder where it rubbed in a holster or purse. The link below will give you a picture of the gun.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Can't use the link - requires some sort of sign in.

Anyway, you're looking for a Model 49, not a 490. It's the all steel blued version of the 38 Airweight.

I'd guess in excellent shape it's about $350.00 or so. I bought one a few years ago, still have it. Nice little gun. Having the extra weight when carrying doesn't bother me, prefer it to help with recoil.

Sorry about the link...can't figure out how to upload a pic even after going through the tutorial.
Mod. 49? It has stamped on it Mod. 490...same thing?
    thanks again

I've never heard of a 490. The other side of the yoke (the crane) sometimes has a part # on it and I've seen those create an impression on the frame - possible that has happened?

The only other gun with similar numbers is the 940, which is essentially a stainless 9mm version of the 640.

Not sure why it is stamped 490 instead of 49. I have looked at other identical pistols listed on this site and they are all stamped mod. 49. This is stamped mod. 490 in the same spot!

I have now listed the gun on gunbroker: item No. 90490960. Take a look if you have the time. One of the pics has the stamp clearly displayed..
    thanks again,
