Bought a m77 Ruger 25-06, just wondering what pets loads are out there for varmint and deer hunting[?]. Myself I was thinking about Hornady VMax 75 Grain. But I'm open to any examples you may have. Thanks for you time[:D]

I have a Remington 40X in 25-06. The rifle has never shot the lighter bullets really well. The best load I have so far is a 100 gr Sierra SP with 56 gr 4831 in a Remington case and Federal LR match primers. It is moving at 3400 fps and will put them into 1/4 inch at 100 yards. Never shot a deer with it yet but the varmints don't know what hit them.

    I agree with 5MM
I own 3 25-06's and none of them like anything lighter than 100 gr. I've gotten lazy and no longer reload-- instead I use 100 gr Georgia Arms ammo loaded with Nosler Ballistic tips for both whistlepigs and deer. 3100 fps and all the accuracy I need.

I have 3 25-06's, and have found that one, A Rem 700 BDL, likes IMR-4831, and 100 gr Sierra flat base spitzers (for that matter, all of them prefer the sierra flat base spitzer) and the amount of powder, I'm not going to post, as you shold start lower than max in your book, and work your way up. If your rifles, are like most that I own, your best results will be near max.

The other is a Model 700 classic, and it really like IMR-4350 with the 100 grain Sierra, also on the warm side.

Not last but not least, my favorite, a model 70 LT, also Likes the IMR-4350, Sierra flat base.

With all of these rifle, they shot best on the warm side with Sierra flat base spitzer I thint the bullet number is 6130. It has also been interesting in all of my testing and load development, the Combined Technology 85 grain bullet, performed second in all of the rifles, and shot like the heavier bullets I tested.

On the to mention list: Hornady came in 3,nosler ballistic tips 4,nosler partitions 5,and the barnes x, I should just sell for copper scrap price. But these are just my findings, and soley my own conclusions. But IMR-4350 starting around 51.5 grains, and a hundred grain Sierra Spitzer, is a great starting point. Primers, CCI 200, or Fed 210M, also gave the best results, with neither showing signs of being any better than the other. Butcher

The 75 grain Vmax is not a good choice for deer, but is a dandy for varmints.
Most all the 25 calibers seem to like shooting the 100 grain bullets the best
with any of the 4350's.. My choice is the 100 grain Ballistic Tip and H-4350...
    especially on deer.....
