Redneck I am way ahead of you, thanks. The problem is that I can't break it open to put a round into the barrel. It only opens about 1/8". I took the buttstock off. No rust. It does cycle correctly without the forearm. So,I believe it is between the forearm and the reciever. If anyone can direct me to a book or anything that would be great. I do have the schematics on it through Numrich.

this is very similar to the sav./steven 311. there should be instauctions in the NRA guide to rifles & shotguns (brownells.com pt #6491002100). there is something blocking the hammers from cocking, you will need a long screw driver to remove the butt stock.
