rifle appraisal

Dear Sirs:

I have a custom P.O. Ackley 30-06 with a scope bearing his name. It is in excellent condition and has seen only moderate use. I am trying to determine approximately what this rifle is worth. The number 84135 is stamped next to the bolt which looks a lot like a Mauser bolt, or at least some kind of military bolt and receiver.

I got it at a gun show in Colorado in 1997.

Thank you for your help.

    Sir;
    Pictures tell a million word story without typing a line.
    By your description alone, it sounds like a nice rifle. It would be almost impossible to give you a fair appraisal without actually seeing it. If you have access to a camera, and do a search on how to post photos; I'm certain "we" can get you a ballpark figure.

    +1 on Gun nut pictures are the best way on any fire-arm but especially on custom guns that were made by well known maker when it comes to value. With your last name do you put out oil well fires[:0][:p]

    Thanks for getting back with me. Upon further checking, I found the Ackley name and number on the rife barrel also. (SLCUt) The scope bears his name (4 X 40 water proof, fully coated, image moving, nitrogen filled) I may have successfully inserted the image, but if not, can you assist me?

    Thanks.
