Gun Safe

I'm looking into getting a gun safe with fire protection. Only thing is I'm kinda stupid on this subject. I looked on line and they all seem about the same to me. My price range is gonna be around $500.00 and I'm thinking 10 to 12 guns should be plenty big enough. Any opinions or info would be greatly appreciated.

My question is can I put this safe upstairs? And what is the best method for hauling this thing upstairs, an appliance dolly or what?
My home was built in 1995 and the floor joists are 2X10s on 16" centers. I don't have a basement and really no great place to put it downstairs. The safe weighs just under 500 lbs. I have a couple of brave trusty friends willing to help me move this thing upstairs (the beer tab will be worth it). Any tips or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Keep your sights on the Lord, you can't miss.
As long as you don't have flooding problems, the basement can work. (I have a battery backup on my sump pump, in case of pipe breakage.) However, in most of the country moisture will wick up from the concrete floor; if your safe is not raised on a pallet, it will rust through from the bottom. Inside, you want either a Goldenrod or a can of dessicant; some folks just use a low-wattage light bulb, which works as long as it doesn't touch a gun.
For protection from fire, the basement is best because it rarely gets as hot as the floors above ground. Fire protection ratings are relative, not absolute; a 30 minute rated safe may only keep the contents safe for 10 minutes, but it will keep the contents safe for twice as long as a 15 minute rated safe.

Pricing also varies by which part of the country you live in. Some areas have larger dealers for certain brands which translates into lower pricing. I wanted to purchase a Champion based on the pricing I was accustomed to in TX. But in FL there were no large dealers so they were significantly more expensive.
for the money it's hard to beat the ones sold by Sam's Club for $600-700
