I got a pretty cool hand me down from the father in-law a while back, its a Colt Pocket Positive in 32 Colt ctg, serial # 550xx. Just wondering if any one could tell me the year of manufacture.

thanks, to bad it has been nickeled, but it does look nice. Almost never found any ammo around here. Told them what I needed and they look at me like I'm stupid.

Pocket Positives were available in factory nickel finish. Unless the nickel finish was known to have been done after-factory or it obviously shows pits or wear under the nickel plating it could be original. If it's original it adds to the value, 15-20%, according to Blue Book of Gun Values.

I'm pretty sure its been redone. The letters on the barrel and the pony stamp aren't very sharp. It had been sitting in my father in-laws drawer for about 25 years. His father in-law gave it to him.
