I have gotten myself confused. Please explain what a single action is and a double action.
Thanks

A single action must be cocked manually before firing.

A single action cannot be cocked and fired by a complete trigger stroke.

A double action can be cocked and fired with one stroke of the trigger or can be cocked manually and fired.

Single action requires cocking of the hammer before pulling the trigger to fire.
Double actions requires pulling the trigger to accomplish cocking and firing - although most "traditional" double actions can also be thumb cocked.
Double Action ONLY - has no provision for thumb cocking-single action firing and can only be fired by means of pulling the trigger.
