What is the formula for breaking in a new rifle? I've heared to shoot once and clean, and repeat over and over, any suggestions? The gun is a ruger 77 MII in 220 swift

The method I use is as follows: 100 rounds total
    1-10 Clean after each shot
11-30 Clean after every 2 shots
31-100 Clean after every 5 shots

    Search for "barrel break in".
Properly removing the copper can take more than a hour, so this isn't something you want to do at the range.
Personaly I let the barrel tell me what it wants. If it copper fouls like a pig after 1 round, it wants to go back to the factory for replacment.
If it only shows a trace of copper ofter 10 rounds have been fired it's ready to go.
The most important things are: 1) don't let it get hot 2) how many fouling shots it needs before it starts to group again and 3) how many shots before the accuracy starts to fall off.
