Tikka T3 factory rings?

I have on order a 338 Federal Tikka T3. The gun comes with a set of rings that mount to a grooved receiver like most .22 rifles. Has anyone had any experience with these rings? The gun is drilled and tapped from the factory for optional Weaver style bases.

I was thinking about using Weaver bases and steel rings instead of the alloy factory ones, but if the factory rings hold up, I'll use them.

Any info/insight much appreciated. Don

My T-3 rings which came with the gun were just not tall enough for a 42mm scope. I seem to recall needing to buy something else, maybe Burris Signatures. The Tikka service people were non-sympatico. I do like the rifle but dislike its cheap plastic magazine.

You might want the seller to guarantee a fitting ring set with your purchase, given the scope you intend to use.

edit: My beef with them about the rings was that on what is obviously going to be a varmint shooter 223, why put rings in the box that won't work with 80% of the varmint type scopes with their large objectives.

I have 3 tikkas a 25-06,30-06 and a .338winmag. all 3 use the tikka mounts. they are plenty strong, and hold their zero forever. If my .338 holds it zero with 250 grn siereas, I dont know what would hold. love them tikkas!!!

I have a T3 in .243 and I use the Tikka rings as well.

It may have just been the scope that I used, but I ended up having to tighten the ring screws tighter than recommended to keep the scope from "walking". Also, if you plan on using a scope with a bell diameter greater than 44mm the rings will probably be too low.

I too had to get higher rings. The rings will not even fit a 40 mm. so if you are using a smaller front lens you will be fine if not you will be replacing them.

The rings will clear most 40mm bells, and are very strong. I have sold quite a few Tikka's, and have had no problems with them moving around or shifting zero.
