Anybody have any experience with this gun? I'm looking at a 2 3/4 - 3 inch with 24 inch barrel. Love it? Hate it? Fair price for used, but like new?

(12 ga)

Thanks all...

Mine cycles anything, 7/8 OZ to 2 oz. I had some trouble with it(double feeding), sent it back to the factory, haven't had any trouble since. Lots of rounds through it.

For a cheap field gun I think they are hard to beat. For someone who is going to shoot 250 rounds a week in trap or skeet, I think you should spend more and buy something else.

    Lifetime Warranty from Mossberg.

    Barrels are out there.

Maybe $250 for a basic one, a little more for a crown grade.

I have the 9200 camo model with 24" barrel. This gun shoots buckshot like none other I have owned. It has never failed to function for me. I have heard plenty of bad things about the 9200, but mine has been flawless for 12 years. It was $459 NIB. The blue on walnut was $399 NIB.

The new Mossberg 930 can be had NIB for around $400 and is a totally redesigned gun. I would buy the new 930. I own both and the 930 does not have rubber orings in the gas system- the 9200 does.

IMO- either gun is a workhorse and a great value

The 9200 had issues when fired with alot of magnum rounds. Get the 930 if you want a beater Mossberg. Its a much better gun.

I have (had)a 9200 that my son decided he needed to borrow. While I used it, it functioned well. I used it to pheasant hunt with 1 1/4 ounce loads and some trap with 1 or 1 1/8 oz loads and it worked 100%. It would not run with the AA low recoil 7/8 oz shells. I don't remember using any 3" in it but my son used it a fair amount on ducks with 3" steel. He thought it was great.

I had one get dirty or sticky, and it wouldn't cycle. Gunsmith friend cleaned it and it is fine. I may have made the mistake of using WD-40 years earlier.

For some reason, I hate to take apart semi-automatic actions for cleaning.

The best thing about the 9200 is the "Lifetime Warranty"!!

I have heard about folks returning guns to Mossberg that couldn't be fixed and Mossberg replaced them with a new 930.... If the price was around $300 +/- $50, I'd buy it...
