Have an 11-87 & 1100 that I won't be shooting for a while. SHOULD I store with bolt ope or closed? A friend told me they should be stored closed, but he's no expert.

closed takes the tension off the action and prevents dust. Also, if possible I would use a moisture reducer like the golden rod.

Thanks, I'll do that. Already have a dehumidifier in the gunsafe.

I like to keep snap caps in all my shot guns and this also allows you th ake tension off the hammer spring not so important on coil wire springs but many older SXS and Drillings have flat Springs.
