Does anyone use these scopes?? If so how do they perform and hold up???

I have always used simmons scopes but the BSA is everywhere i turn.

What do you mean you would not trust them on high powered rifles.???

Ok well i guess i should ask how you feel about Simmons Scopes

He means it is likely that they will not withstand the recoil of high powered rifles and the internals will come loose, a common occurance with "economy" scopes. With optics, more than most things, you get what you pay for. You would be well served to save longer and buy higher quality. Think of it this way: You have a $600 rilfe. Add a $49 scope and you do not have a $649 set up, you now have a $49 rifle. Durability, greater light transmission, clarity, and repeat shoot-to-point-of-aim are what you pay for in higher price/quality scopes.

I use them on high power and 223. They are quite just fine. I really like the Sweet series. When you change the range point on a typical scope, you might have a problem finding the zero point again, but the target knob brings it back.

I surf guns topics a lot, and do not see people fussing about them coming apart. Methinks they are well made for the money, and I would also say that about Barska's.

What are they talking about when it says 150gr, 165gr, and 180gr turret drums.

I have 4 or 5 BSA's & can't complain about them. I prefer BSA to Simmons. To me there is nothing wrong with a BSA for a target shooting. I have had a few Simmons scopes & I didn't even like them for target shooting - sold them. However, I will spend a little more on scopes for the guns I hunt with.

What problems do you have with Simmons?? I have had nothing but good luck with them.

What kind of scope do you recommend for @ 250$$

What that means is that it comes with different turrets that you change out depending on the grain weight of the bullet being shot out of it. A typical 150 grain 30-06 load will have a flatter trajectory than a typical 180 grain load. Therefore, you need a different turret for the elevation adjustment to compensate for that.

I have one I bought about 5 yrs ago... I could use it for a hammer not much else.

Fire one shot from 308 and it lost focus. wait 10-15 min and you can see cross hairs again. Don't take it out in the cold either.

I have bought about every cheap scope they make and I wish I had all that money back.
