Ive got a nitro hunter single shot shotgun. It belonged to my great-grandad and it would be nice to be able to find some remanufactured parts for it. If anyone has any information on it, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Nitro Hunter was a trade name on Shotguns used by Belknap Hardware Company of Louisville, Ky. The gun itself was probably made by Stevens and probably will cross over to a Stevens Model but my reference doesn't list any model numbers.
    Hope this helps, good luck

If my mind is not playing tricks on me... I think they were made by Crescent.

It could very well be by Crescent, they made a ton of store brand shotguns. I mentioned Stevens because Numrich cross references a Belknap model numbered gun to Stevens and I know a lot of time the trade name is for catching the buyers fancy, the stocking and ordering number was an actual model number.

My list shows the "Nitro Hunter" as being made by Crescent for Belknap Hdw....BUT, these "hardware store" shotguns were often made for bid. They may have been made by Cresent for a few years, then Stevens or Hopkins & Allen (or somebody else) may have bid lower and made them for another few years.

The "Tradename" of these guns usually belonged to the Hardware Chain, Firearms Wholesaler, or Catalog House that sold them. Trying to judge who made a particular tradename shotgun is sometimes really just a "crap shoot".
