Colt Model 1903 (I think made in 1908)

Hi
I have Colt Model 1908 serial # 68188, 32 caliber. This is the 4" barrel, 1st issue, Type I, "collector" model since type I. The bore is smooth condition but would need a cleaning. Finish I would say is somewhere around 50%, and the inscriptions are almost faded. I would like an expert opinion on how much this would cost, what year is it made, if I am right about the model and all. All help is appreciated. Thanks.

Probably refinished (reblued) at least once... Maybe somebody else will venture a guess as to value although Blue Book says $ 225 for 60% plus 20% (another 50 bucks?) for "first model" - Type I
Have a good day!
(If it IS a 1908 it should be .380 and made in 1923 and it would be a Type II)
... A re-blue of any kind, of the best quality, from anyone, only knocks the value of a Colt down.
...As is, the value would be somewhere between $200-$350...if it has the two tone mag, not a replacement from a later period. With an investment in a quality restoration (note: not re-blue only) of $300 UP which MAY get the lettering/Pony redone/period blue, the value would be maybe $300-$350.
...Doug Turnbull will do the best job to be had for a complete restoration, will do the correct blue for the period; and figure about a year...or more turn around.
...Notice the value does not increase per dollars invested, just the opposite. Best to leave it as it is...[;)]
thanks for the info.
