I have no idea as to the value of the Wby's. But the Win. only has value as a shooter, whatever that is worth.

The original Weatherby Mark XXII's were made by Beretta of Italy, KTG, Nikko and Howa of Japan and Mossberg of the USA. It would be nice to think that the american made guns were the best but what do you think. I would expect that the reason the first letters of the serial number are important is to identify the manufacturer. The original Mark XXII had been discontinued and the mark is being used now for a rimfire bolt gun made for Weatherby using a Anschutz barrelled action.

I have had two of the Italian made Mark XXIIs. As a previous writer stated, they were made for Weatherby by Beretta. They were the first Mark XXII to be made, and came out about 1965 or so. My father bought me one of these in 1965 or 1966. The MSRP was $99.50 at that time. It came with five and 10 shot metal magazines, a metal buttplate, a monte carlo stock, and a cheekpiece.

The Italian made Mark XXIIs are usually the most valuable, especially if they are in original condition. I have seen prices above $600 or $700 being asked on the net. The Weatherby scope probably adds some value, but I do not know for sure. Perhaps $100 or so.

I no longer have either gun, but one had a 7xxx SN, and one 8xxx.
