ok my dealer had an ffl and moved the location of his shop which required him to get a new ffl. (new address) he applied and the atf came out to inspect the new shop, everything was approved but they filled out a form wrong and the application was denied. they then had to come back out and inspect the shop again and redo the forms. application was approved at that point but they mailed the ffl to the wrong address (old shop) they then had to get it back and mail a new one. it was "in the mail" 3 weeks ago and it still has not arrived. i understand that dealing with any government agency takes time but c'mon! from july 07 until present day? it's been almost 8 months and we're still waiting! several sales have been lost and there are several more (myself included) who are waiting. am i the only one who thinks this is ridiculous?

I would contact the responsible agent's supervisor. Provide a detailed accounting of the disaster with names and dates. Keep it sterile (like a lawyer) and don't make it personal. Remember, the agent you roast today could be the one performing your audit next year.

It's not your problem; it's the dealer's. ATF will not even discuss it with you. I once asked ATF to verify if a dealers license was valid, & they refused to tell me. If I were the dealer, I'd follow duckhunter's advice, but it would be a waste of your time.

There might be other things happening here. Your only recourse is to walk away.

i know it's not my problem and i don't intend to get into the middle of it either. i just wanted to see what you guys thought about the situation. i'm not going to just walk away because i gave my word to the dealer that i would buy from him. that's as good as a completed sale as far as i'm concerned. and to be honest, as long as hillary stays out of office, i'm not in a big hurry anyways. i have the cash to buy three guns (armalite m15, ak-47, and a taurus 1911) from him whenever the atf delivers the ffl to him. it's been "in the mail" for about 3 weeks now and he's getting pretty ticked off. i would be too, i doubt wally world ever had to wait very long for an ffl at any of their stores. i've heard of 3 month waits to get an ffl but i just wanted some feedback as to whether he's getting royaly * around or if 7 month plus waits aren't that uncommon
