    Hello Gary,

    You will need to provide considerably more information/details before we can answer your question. You can start with the following information;

    1. Serial number (so that we can determine when it was made)?
    2. Barrel length?
    3. How it is choked?
    4. Plain barrel or ribbed?
    5. Pistol grip or straight grip buttstock?
    6. Is it 100% factory original (e.g. not reblued/refinished, no recoil pad, etc.)?
    7. How much of the finish remains on all parts of the gun (e.g. the barrel, the receiver, and the stocks)?

Posting a few pictures of it would also help.

    ok, here goes
    1.pistol grip
    2.mod#952196
    3. 100 % factor
    4. full choke
    5. plain barrel
    6. 95% of finish remains
7.hand grip on the pump is ribbed
    8. barrel length-approx 26.5 inches- due to a silly accident while duck hunting the barrel was stuck in the mud and when I fired it again the tip blew off.(sigh)

The cut-down barrel killed the collector value, and it eliminated the Full choke (it is now a cylinder bore).

Essentially, it is a shooter, and worth the sum of its parts. Sold as a "whole" gun, it is worth about $200. Stripped down and sold as parts, you could easily double that figure (not that I advocate doing such).

hi bert, a while back i ask about 4 md. 12,s i have. one is a md 12 standard trap with 32 full choke, do all trap models have such a strait butt stock? compared to the other md 12,s. it realy is strait with hardly any drop and its hard to get down on the stock, like your face is up higher. thanks, eastbank.

The Standard Trap gun was made with a 30" barrel, and either a pistol grip or English style straight grip buttstock. If your gun is original, someone special ordered it with the 32" barrel.

    Gary..
Thats a shame about the barrel;...your gun is a WW2 era model 12...it is my favorite era for model 12s as very few guns were made for the public, with most of the production going for the war effort....yours should still make a fine field gun and you might consider having choke tubes installed to improve its versatility....

hi bert, the 12 standard trap #7392xx is original, has a pistol grip with cap. when i pull the gun up into the firing postion i can,t seem to get my face down to line up the two beads on the rib. my md. 12 skeet #8648xx gun gives me no trouble. could i change the stock from my skeet to the trap gun? i am not selling these guns so i could always change the stocks back. thanks eastbank.

So..how much would the gun have been worth if not damaged? What was the original length of the barrel? Should I have the gun reblued and the stock reconditioned?I have the choke. If so, who would you recommend to
    do the work?

Yes, you can swap the stocks between the two guns.

    Somewhere in the $600 - $750 range.

The standard barrel length for the 12 gauge Model 12 guns was 30-inches.

You stated that it still has 95% of its original finish, and based on that assessment, it would be a waste of time & $$$ to have it reblued.

If it were me, I would contact Briley about having it modified for screw in chokes. This would allow you to shoot steel shotshells in that old gun.
