OK guys. Want to send a handgun to my son in anther state without running afoul of the law. Can I use UPS? FEDEX? Need to go through a FFL?

You must go through an ffl at the receiving end. You can legally send the handgun yourself but USPS will not ship a gun from anyone except an ffl dealer. If you send it by fedex or UPS they will require it to go some type overnight delivery at a high cost. ($40-$50). An ffl dealer can mail it for less than $10. You might be money ahead by paying an ffl dealer on your end to ship it for you. CAUTION: Some ffl dealers will not accept a firearm except from another dealer. Make sure the receiving dealer will accept it from an unlicensed person if you plan to ship it yourself.
