Bought Springfield Armory 1911A1 slide in 9mm, wanted to use on Colt series 70 frame. Got all parts and find that the standard barrel for series 70 9mm does NOT fit, tang or whatever its called above chamber for Springfield is narrower than "Colt" style. Anyone know where to get a 9mm 1911A1 Springfield barrel? They are marked S.A. 9mm. If you have one to sell please advise and list on GB for sale.
Thank you. joeorbev@yahoo.com[:)]

Hello all is not lost The part of the barrel you speak of is called the "HOOD" one part of building match 1911 pistols is "FITTING" the hood to the slide. If your barrel is too wide then metal can be removed to allow this barrel to fit your slide . The other thing you can do is contact Springfield THEY SELL PARTS. Be aware you will most likely have to change the ejector on your frame as well the ejector is held in place by a very small diameter cross pin. Fitting the barrel to the slide is not hard after you have done a few but you can mess up if you dont understand what needs to be done. Contact me if you have any questions "PRAISE THE HARD-BALL GUN"
