"Rifles of the World" by Walter, notes that they were made as late as the mid 60's, without any specific dates or numbers made.

1st introduced in 1937. Intended as an inexpensive "boys rifle", the early models had 22" barrel, crude stock w/simple cresent cut butt and no buttplate. In 1948 stocks were redesigned (now w/Buttplate) and barrel lenghtened to 24". Production ended in 1965.
The "B" designation on Stevens rimrifes generally refers to the "Buckhorn" series. Usually just an slightly upgraded version of the plain rifle. Generally had a black painted on forend tip, and upgraded peep sights.
