Mossberg model 810 ASM help

I have a Mossberg model 810 ASM .30-06 and I am hoping someone can help me with a few questions i have about it.

first what does the ASM stand for, and is there a difference from the regular 810 model?

I am having a hard time finding accessories for this model, like stocks in particular, is there another brand/model rifle that is similar enough that the 810 ASM was modeled after that will work when looking for stocks?

Any other info that someone has will also be appreciated even if it is not associated with the questions above.

Thanks.
Kris

The Mossberg center-fire rifles were never very popular and there is no other rifle that had similiar stocks other than variations of the Mossberg itself. Mossberg made these rifles for Montgomery Ward and, I believe, Western Auto. I have one of the rifles made for Wards in .30/06--it's called a model 732.

As far as the ASM designation; I don't know. Mossberg used letter designations to differenciate between chamberings but I don't know the code. My 810 in .270 is marked 810CSMH!? I have an 800 in .308 that's marked 800A. I suggest to try the Mossberg Collector's Association for answers. They might even be able to help you with a stock.

    Hey Kris55,

The first letter designates the caliber (just like their shotguns designate shell gauge) A- stands for .30-06.

Rifles sold with factory-fitted optical sight swere given"SM" suffixes.

Currently there is a stock on Ebay (type mossberg 810 in search bar)

My dad purchased a nice 810 ASM used about 25 years ago and passed it to me when he upgraded years ago. It has a Mossberg scope on it (have yet to see another like it).

Good accurate gun,and a rare find.
