Help needed with Ruger 1V

I have a beautiful model 1V (varmint model) 1976 model in 22-250 cal.This rifle came from the factory with target scope bases and has had a Unertl 12X Ultra Varminter scope on it since new. Question is, since I'm older now and the scope is quite heavy, how can I put on bases to accomadate a regular scope? The current bases are the narrow target bases, one on the action and the front one 7.2 inches ahead on the barrel. Anybody done this or have a viable idea? Thanks

Burris made a set of adapters to do what you need done, they will set on the existing base and you'll set a weaver style ring on them....
