Ciener 22 Kit /Question

My Ciener 22 kit came with a black rubber washer around the recoil spring and guide. Does anyone know what this washer's function is and is it necessary on all 1911 frames or just a few specific ones?
thanks

It's a buffer to keep the frame from battering the slide.

22 conversion units are straight BLOW-BACK the weight of the slide the recoil impulse and the way the shooter holds the pistol all have a part in the function of the unit some people want to use target/standard velocity ammo and this person may be thin and weigh 100 pounds the next shooter may be BUBBA 280 pounds with a vice like hand and want to shoot stingers . the buffer is there to prevent damage with BUBBA and the stingers but they may cause problems with standard velocity ammo .
