hi i know someone who is looking to trade me a browning superposed 12 guage gold trigger 30" barrels 3" chamber . Not sure on the chokes. Serial says made in 1961. Now the question, i've saw some on auction says not salt gun (huh?) and can't determine value. Haven't found one in the same trim. Any help would be highly appreciated. I'd hate to give to much and lose money on my truck > thanks guys. Jeff

Sorry if this is redundant, but a further clarification on the "salt" question. It refers, I believe, to the curing process used in the wood. Some will leech salt out of the wood and cause rusting problems. I had the same issue with an early Ruger #1. One of the nicest pieces of wood I'd seen on any No. 1. Ruger offered to replace it for me, but because it was so nice, I opted to keep the wood and monitor the corrosion problem. Heavy paste wax on affected metal and close monitoring for recurrance. If you suspect a salt problem and can remove the action from the wood you should know real quick whether or not this is a problem.
Good luck.
