Mauser - Model HSc - Kal. 7.65 mm

I have a friend who has a Mauser-Werke A. G. Oberndorf a. N. Model HSc Kal. 7.65mm semi automatic pistol. The SN is 950843. It fires fine and has the original holster with the magazine holder just under the flap. The finish is dull and the wood is a well. There is one small chip off the top front piece of the hand grip nearest the trigger about 3/16 of an inch long. Other than that, the gun is in pretty good shape for a WWII era weapon. Any idea what it might be worth?

To set a price one needs to know what all of the markings, lettering, and symbols are on the pistol. The serial number places it in late wartime production. Who it was made for, Army, Navy, Police, wartime commercial, etc. will help determine price. The last German pistols had serial numbers running into the 951,000's. The French began limited production with the 952,000 range. They overran the Mauser factory and produced their own for the Pacific war. Quality of finish was determined by finishing work. Late in the game, they stopped bluing and used a green salt solution to give a 'parkerized' look to them and rough polished them.
Check them out if you have a bluebook handy. It could range from 150 to 300 depending on serial no., markings (every last one of them), and metal finish. They are very fine made tools and fun to shoot. Did he show you how to disassemble it??? Kind of different.
