I saw a nice rifle for sale today that I would like information on. It is a Model 70 Classic with BOSS and muzzlebrake in 270 Weatherby Magnum caliber. It has a Leupold 3-9x50 VX-I scope. The condition of the outfit is at least 95%. The asking price at a pawnshop is $850. What do you think of the gun, the caliber, and the price? I will probably not buy it because I don't like muzzlebrakes nor the BOSS system. How common are these and what are chances that it could ever be collectible? Thanks for any replies and information.

Don't know too much about the Model 70 in that cal, but I happen to have a .270 WBY Mag Mark V with a Fox River muzzlebrake, base and rings for sale for better than $850. I'd look around.

Well, the Model 70 Classic was a model that was made in the 5 years prior to Winchester shutting the doors at New Haven. It is a turnback to the pre-64 model 70, with the claw type extractor, and controlled round feeding. The 270 Weatherby is the hottest 270 caliber that is mass produced as far as ammo goes. As for the leupold scope that is a nice glass. If you don't like the blast of the BOSS, they make a replacement callet the BOSS CR, that eliminates the ports. Collectability, well at first when the doors closed the prices shot thru the roof, but have since settled back down.

It's been for sale over a month now, so the price must be a little high. I'm thinking of offering $750. I looked it over good today and it is really a great looking outfit. I definitely would get the muzzlebrake port shut-off for hunting and a set of reloading dies. I checked ammo prices and they are way up there! Thanks for your replies.

Offer him $ 700.00 he might have a car payment coming due, and take you up on the offer.
