Win. 94 strange serial number

Hi...I have a Winchester model 94 with a serial number of 3182973M, and am wondering what the "M" might designate. My little book says it was made in 1968, but what does the "M" mean? It also appears that the receiver has a "baked-on" finish, rather than being blued. BT

The M suffix was applied to serial numbers of Model 94 receivers that were made especially for the .44 Magnum cartridge. These were made in the 1967 - 1972 time frame.

This receiver also has a small stamped piece of metal mounted behind the left cartridge guide that apparently helps guide the round from the magazine to the chamber. BT
