Colt AR15.......Tasco scope??

I recently bought a used Colt Sporter Match HBAR rifle. This is a preban model. With the rifle I recieved a Tasco armored 3x9x40 scope and mount. I assumed that this was just a scope the previous owner had picked up for the rifle. Later a friend told me that he had read somewhere that Colt had actually packaged these scopes with some of their guns (including the mount). Anybody know for sure?? And if so any way to tell if this was on of those rifles?

I thought Colt put 4x scopes on some AR's... and I'm pretty sure they weren't made by Tasco. [:o)]

Colt put some rubber armored scopes 3x9x40 on I think on the Delta model.
The gun should have also had a (Cherokee) type cheek rest as well.
I'm pretty sure the scopes were made by Tasco as they sure didn't come with a Leupold or Burris.

Yes colt did. "The year 1992 saw five more models.

    Sporter/Competition HBAR (Cat.#R-6700S) same as R-6701
but with the following accessories. 3x9x40mm matte finish
Tasco World Class scope, B-Square scope mount, quick
detachable carry handle with rear sight."

Also..."AR-15A2 Delta HBAR, (Cat.#R-6600 DH) an HBAR with
Tasco rubber armored 3x9 scope, A.R.M.S., Colt marked,
scope mount, hard case, black leather sling,
removable cheek piece. Range selected for accuracy.

Colt took bids from 9 mfgrs.

And just like your employer or government, they selected the low bidder.
