I need help on a Winchester Model 42

I am trying to figure out exactly what I have here and I was hoping that I could get some other opinions. It is a Winchester Model 42 .410 Gauge Skeet Grade with a Vented Rib. Some people that I consider knowledgable have told me that it is a Deluxe Grade. It is in great shape. Serial #163227. I even spoke to a rep at Winchester and they were not very helpful, as they do not have good records of the manufacturing of Model 42's. Can someone please help me with exactly what I have here and what the value of it is. Thanks!

I am pretty sure it was a field grade gun with a simmons rib, polychoke and aftermarket wood added. grip cap is also aftermarket. Sorry.

It is definitely not a Deluxe. Checkering pattern and wood are field grade.

I know little about the 42, but that looks like a Lyman Cutts Compensator hanging off the barrel. Maybe?
If so, and if you're interested, email and I'll share a story of my visit to Lyman's back in the '60's when my dad and I toured the factory and watched them install a similar rig on my '97.

That's definetly a Cutts Comp. Polychoke did not make a device for .410.

Does anyone have any idea what it might be worth even though it apparently isn't a deluxe?

It might bring 1k at auction. If it were a deluxe without the compensator, 5 times that.

Minimum or 1,500.00. May bring up to 2 geand to the right customer. The cutts were many times factory origional. Did not look at the rib to see if it is aftermarket. You can tell by looking at the top of the barrel where the rib meets. If the proof mark is missing (not seen) then it is under the rib and therefore added. The proof mark is a "P" with a circle around it.

    The barrel is marked skeet.
