Uberti vs. U.S. Firearms (antique finish)

I'm thinking of purchasing either an Uberti Cattleman or an U.S. Firearms Gunslinger with the old gun look finish. The Uberti is about $500.00 cheaper, but the U.S. Firearms website makes their gun sound as if it's a lot more authantic looking. I'm wondering if the Gunslinger is actually a lot better looking, of if someone just did a better job of describing it. If anyone has actually seen both guns, I'd like to know if you think the USFA gun does look a lot more like an old gun. Thanks in advance to any and all who reply.

USFA firearms are made in the USA and their quality is equal to or better than Colt.

Actually, I don't plan on shooting the gun that much. I'm more interested in which gun's finish looks more authantic.

As the owner of a brand new authentic Colt SAA in 45 Colt with a 7.5" barrel I must tell you ........

I agree. USFA makes excellent guns, and a heck of alot more variety than Colt. USFA is positively my next SA revolver.

If you don't mind saving up the extra dough, go with US Firearms. Uberti's may be cheaper, but you get what you pay for. Saw a guy at the range have an Uberti come apart in his hands while firing.

Nothing catastrophic (it didn't blow up or anything), but it still sucks to pay any amount of money for a cowboy shooter and have the whole shell-ejector assembly come flying off!

Uberti Schofields are another story entirely, but I'll save that for a later date.[:D]

Even if you are just going to look at it, the USFA is a better investment (IMHO).

I have a feeling you have not even looked at and compared the 2.
You should and then make your decision.
If you can't tell the difference then you should not buy either.

Being a real owner of over 70 Single Action Armys over the last 25 years I would suggest the following .

    1. WHY THE OLD GUN LOOK ? [V] You are actually going to pay for something to look horrible, U must wear those new $200 Ed Hardy Jeans with the holes in them ! Just Buy a used Colt thats beat to death and replace the internal parts.

2 Uberti of which I have owned maybe 10 of there different configurations are generally crudely produced and weigh and balance WRONG ! However if U are going to ruin one, buy the 399 cattleman, put cosmoline or a thick gease in the barrel, and spray it with salt water, let it sit out for 2 weeks, then tumble it in your brass tumbler after U take the greese out of the barrel and U will have an OFFICIAL crud gun ! [:0]

3 USFA Makes a Very Good ALMOST COPY OF THE COLT ! Yes they are actually BETTER, Technically. However they are not worth anything and have horrible resale vale , cause no one in there right mind COLLECTS FAKE COLTS ! [:(!]

4 I suggest U get a used Colt on GB, look for a USED Second Gen or a 4th Gen and shoot it to death till it looks like crud. [:)]

As previously stated, I have looked at both on the Internet, but many times that's not the same as looking at the actual product. I live in a small town, and there are no opportunities to actually view the guns that's why I came here hoping to find a person or persons who have actually seen both.

Who put the burr under your saddle? Why do you care if I wear jeans with holes in them or want a new gun that looks old?
