Does anyone know if clips from Jennings J-25 and Bryco Model 25-CA are interchangeable? Both are .25 ACP.

Bryco and Jennings (both now defunct for several years) are the same guns built on the same tooling.

They should use the same mags.

In any case, I wouldn't spend too much time or money on one of these. The guns themselves are notoriously unreliable and prone to breakage.

I'm also not quite sure about their drop safety.

    EDIT:
Yes, technically they're "magazines" not "clips" but that's a question of semantics. I think its pretty clear what you meant.

Bryco/Jennings mags aren't hard to find.

There are several auctions listed right now on the Gunbroker auction site for Bryco/Jennings .25 magazines, including one lot of FIVE magazines starting at $15.

    Another potential source is here:
    http://www.ammoclip.com/b/bryco_25.htm

As another possibility, the current incarnation of Bryco/Jennings is called Jimenez arms. The Jimenez .25 is also built on the same tooling as Bryco-Jennings and apart from the slide markings, the guns look identical. The Jimenez mags should probably work too. Jimenez sells the mags for $12 each, plus $5 S&H.

Again, personally, I'd be reluctant to spend even $15 on a magazine for this piece of dung. .25ACP is an anemic cartridge, in my opinion inadequate for defense and obsolete, particularly given the ready availability of tiny .380 guns. Value of a used Jennings/Bryco/Jimenez gun is maybe $70, and IMO it's not even $70 well spent.

The Jimenez instruction manual cautions against carrying these guns with a round in the chamber. That strongly implies that they are not drop-safe, and in my mind that's a total deal-breaker against any gun used for recreation or defense.

If it were me, I'd sell the gun, be thrilled if I could get $50 for it, then take that $50 and plunk it down as a downpayment on either an old Smith and Wesson .38 revolver or a ex-Commie milsurp Makarov type auto. For about $200, either of those two are reliable guns that take a real caliber, and would be better than a low-end .25 in just about every way.

    EDIT #2:
    Mag safety?
    No.
This .25 will fire with a removed magazine.

IMO mag safety is overrated. Plenty of common safe gun designs lack this feature including pretty much *ALL* of the most common/popular defensive semi-auto pistols used in the USA, eg: the 1911 pistol, Beretta 92 series, Glocks, Sigs, etc.

Mag safety is (hopefully) another way for idiots who don't check their chambers from accidentally discharging their guns. Personally, I don't care for them, because they mean that if the mag is ever lost, damaged, or accidentally released, the gun becomes useless.

I apologize for being so technically incorrect! Regardless of their safety issues, this pistol has my interest just based on the fact that they are "ring of fire" cheap weapons the government attacked as the imfamous "S-N-S". Thanks for helping.

I have one (Bryco 25-CA, bought it cheap, and legal, and need a magazine.
    PS
Does anybody know if this model has a magazine safety?

Guy, with all do respect, those things can kill you as easy as the bad guys. I suggest looking into a used piece. Many nice pre-owned LEO items are available. Just take your time and search.

This should help. Auction # 167394950. Did you search the GB auction site? My first post still relevant.

Maybe you (and others) do not understand, I am not disputing the safety issues. All I want is to get some input from someone with knowledge about the Bryco Model 25-CA and a suitable magazine. I have looked at the auction you submitted; however, it is still not definitive that it will work in the Bryco Model I have.

there you go--google can be your best friend--they are the same gun and that guy has 'em for $35 which sadly is about half of what a jennings/bryco is worth[;)]

You may want to post this in the 'Want to Buy' forum also.

BTW, I have one and keep it in my fishing box and while it wouldn't be my first choice for self defense, it's fun to shoot and as accurate as my Walther TPH.

As long as I keep it oiled and clean, it functions well. I inspect it after every shoot looking for cracks, etc. I expect it's life expectancy will be less than 500 rounds.

EDIT: New, the Jennings sold for around $49 when I purchased mine.

Everyone, thanks for the comments. I want all to know this pistol is not, and will never be, for self-defense, or even tackle box carry; it is just an aquisition for curiosity that will be passed to my heirs, God willing 30 yrs (or more) from now. I also trust my heirs will be as sensible as we were expected to be with Grand Dad's Damascus bend 12 Gauge and black powder cartridge revolvers.

I may have already got a problem, this trigger will not trip the pin, so; if it does not have a mag safety, Numrich, Hello!
