@ rem jet.My question is ,is this a 222 bore like a S&W 53, or is this a 224 bore like a contender? I don't have a small, soft lead slug to slug the bore. Thanks for any help. Dave

Hunt up a small lead fishing sinker and slug the bore for the best answer...
    I'll only assume it's a .224 bore......

Bore should be .222 to be in spec for the 'Jet' cartridge. Most all the rest (.221 Rem Fireball/.223 AR type rounds) are .224.

Plenty of .224 bullets out there to reload, if you find your bore to be .224. (Good chance of your bore being the incorrect size of .224!)

Opinion: I'm getting bad vibes from the H&R, as the bore may not be the correct .222.

    Gotta slug it! Best, Joe

Why not try a box or two of .224's or .223's and see which your gun likes best?

I have a S&W 53 in the jet the reason they were .222 bullets the had inserts for a 22 long rifle and there bullet dia is .222,I also have contenders one 9in. and one 20 in.they are also .222.I have a H&R that is a 22jet and have a extra barrel for it that I took out to 22jet maximum,I use .222 bullets in them and reload using hornady 40 gr.22cal .222jet bullets.the nunber is #2210.I would not use the .224 dia bullets in the pistols.the .223bullets may be ok starting with low end of the powder loads listed with the rifles,my lyman 45th edition lists jacketed bullet.222 cast .223.powder 2400 11gr.start 12 gr max.be carful your milage may very.ths hedge[:D]
