Been useing hoppe #9 for many years. It works great. Is there any latest and greatest that beats it for bore cleaning?

Sweets 7.62 for copper fouling, and Hoppes #9 for everything else.[:)]

    Lead/Copper specific cleaners...if there's the 'need'.

Otherwise, Hoppe's is the way to go. And smells great!

(If I met a broad that used #9 instead of purfume, I'd marry her)!

It is a good gun bore cleaner, it is a poor copper fouling remover.

Actually, Hoppes does a good job on copper fouling if you use it as directed. Wet down the bore well, let sit overnight and the next morning you'll be amazed at the amount of blue-green copper fouling that will patch out of that bore.

If you're in a hurry or do not have the time to let it work for one reason or another, Hoppes is probably not the best choice for removing copper residue from that barrel. There are several very good solvents that do not take as much time to work. But Hoppes will get the job done if allowed enough time.

I use Brownell's JB paste bore cleaner to scrub out the copper and such and then use Hoppes #9 to clean that out.

For me it's Shooter's Choice for lead and copper fouling, and all other, I keep a shop sized bottle of Hoppe's #9. Hoppe's does make a copper and lead remover also if I am not mistaken.
