Wow, got locked out before I could reply to any more answers [8D].
Let me here:
beantownshootah: "Differences in accuracy have nothing to do with sights, but with the guns differing designs and their respective intrinsic/mechanical accuracies."
I understand that (and I'm not arguing the Mini might be as good as the AR), but if the sights are significantly different (fairly fine vs not so much), the accuracy comparison is flawed from the start.
gary wray: "ShootingAgain...........Black rifle, again!"
Hey, some of them minis are black! [:D]
givette: "No. We're talking removing any sight on both rifles, whether iron or glass, and bolting both rifles into a shooting rest, and firing them without sights, bolted to the firing-rest.
The bullet placement downrange will be much closer together (read: tighter grouping) from an AR type rifle than with the Mini-14."
That's what I'm talking about. That answers my question.
I have to say an M-16 just feels right, and I enjoyed handling/shooting them in my military days. I like the pistol grip for one thing. I want one of each!

How much more info do you need or want on this subject? The Mini was once deemed a more affordable rifle, but not so in today's world.
I really don't think we need a 14 Vs. 15 IV thread.

lol
Unless you have a mini custom built by a company like Accuracy Sytems, and that will cost you alot more, the AR-15 is the go to get the best accuracy, by that I mean tightest, most consistant shot groupings.
Specialty aftermarket harmonic devices for mini-14 barrels can impove accuracy to a degree, but unless you already have a mini to upgrade, an AR-15 is the easiest way to get accuracy stat.
Here is Accuracy Systems if you want to see thier wares. they also do custom work on Ar-15s, Ar-10s and remington semiautos and bolt actions.
