Have several preban Colt AR15 20 round mags that I would like to disassemble clean and possibly change springs and followers in. Whats the best way to take them apart without damage??

My magazines have a rectangular pin on the botton plate that protrudes through the plate. Push that in and slide off the bottom. All the insides then come out with the follower last. Not real difficult as I remember.
    Good luck!

MILSPEC AR 20rd mags (which yours is):

    On the bottom:
There will be a hole, a slot, and a curved notch (in order from front to rear).

Place a bullet into the hole until the slot no longer has that tiny 'tab' protruding. And while still pressing the bullet into the hole, work the plate back beyond the slot (about 1/4in).

Now, take the same bullet, and place the rim of the bullet case into the curved notch and pull the baseplate off to the rear.

Reverse procedure to assemble. Best, Joe
