Serial Number On Navy Arms Rolling Block

I just transferred a Navy Arms Rolling Block .45-70 for a customer.

When it came in, and I went to book it, I could find no serial number anywhere. There was no number on the invoice either.

When the customer came to pick it up, I pointed out the lack of serial number, but there was a 2-digit number on the side of the trigger. He was puzzled too, and he removed the forend wood. On the very front of the receiver, under the forend, was a 2-digit number matching the one on the trigger.

So, we figured that 2-digit number must be the serial number and that's what I entered in my book.

Thanks for the info. For all.. The SerNo on Norinco Winchester clones is very shallow-stamped onto the front face of the receiver. Very difficult to locate. Best, Joe

The serial number on mine is stamped into the brass band forward of the trigger guard. Even though the numbers are lightly stamped, they are still clearly visible on mine. It is right at the balancing point of the gun however, and I can see where some wear and fading has taken place on the two middle numbers.
