I just transferred a Navy Arms Rolling Block .45-70 for a customer.
When it came in, and I went to book it, I could find no serial number anywhere. There was no number on the invoice either.
When the customer came to pick it up, I pointed out the lack of serial number, but there was a 2-digit number on the side of the trigger. He was puzzled too, and he removed the forend wood. On the very front of the receiver, under the forend, was a 2-digit number matching the one on the trigger.
So, we figured that 2-digit number must be the serial number and that's what I entered in my book.
