36 cal black powder made in Italy

I just inherited a 36cal. Navy model revolver. Black powder only , made in italy. It has 20185 stamped infront of the trigger twice. There is 3 stamped engravers symbols above the trigger: the first looks like a simple crest, the middle one has a pn under it, the 3rd is just a XX8. The first two are repeated on the side of the barrel. The cylindar is etched with a ship scene and says ingaged 16 may 1843. The two other symbols are also stamped there.
Can any one give me any info on this revolver?

Lots of 'em around. I have one myself. They are not worth much, maybe $100.00, but are fun to shoot. Enjoy it!

"XX8" is the Italian coded proof date. Your revolver was proofed and most probably made in 1972.

It is a repro of the 1851 Colt Navy, one of the great classic cap and ball pistols.
This was the gun used by Wild Bill Hickok. It is one of the best-handling cap and ball pistols ever made, and, as Hickok proved, a very good man-killer.

Get some fffg black powder and a box of round balls and go to the range!

Lol, no, worth a little more than that. Good inexpensive way to get into black powder shooting, though.

If the bore is rusty, and the gun is misaligned when cocked, then it is worth $39.95, or maybe even less than that.

I had one of the Navy replica's a few years back and finally sold it because, although listed as a .36, it was an odd sized 36 that I couldn't find balls for.
Don't recall now what the actual cylinder/bore dimensions were, but something to be aware of.
