Which manufacturer is better quality or keeps it value longer?

I have several of the SC made rifles. Mine are all 4 groove barrels. Most Remington made ones are 2 groove if that makes any diff. My SC's are all excellent shooters for what it's worth. As far as collectability, I'm not into that side of it- I just like them.

There were fewer SC's than Remington's made, so they are a little more desirable. But, neither will ever be considered rare, as many thousands of brand new rifles were sold to the public through DCM in the early 1960's. The only collectible ones will be those in original condition, not rebuilds.

If it's going to be for a collection, rather then a shooter, go with the Remington. Because of the name recognition, if nothing else. Remington is a famous arms making company who made military rifles as early as the 19th Century. Smith Corona was a typewriter company. Although Remington made more of the 03 A3's, they don't seem to be nearly as common as the Smith Corona's for some reason.

Both Remington and Smith C. have gone up in value in the last 3 years. I bought Remington because I want to shoot it a lot and I've been real happy with my choice.
