legality of removing import safety

Early imports of the Tokarov pistol from Russia have a really crappy safety added that is difficult to manipulate.

Is there any federal law against removing it?
I used to recruit for the NRA until they sold us down the river (again!) in Heller v. DC. See my auctions (if any) under username henryreilly

The safety was added to be legal to import into the U.S. you can do anything you want except turn it into a fully auto pistol or install a suppressor without first getting a $200.00 stamp for the suppressor.

B T Shootah put it into one word.

The only other issue would be one of liability if you were to sell the gun without the safety, so hang onto the safety and reinstall it if you part company with the gun.
