I don't want to carry this subject on too far but I must say that I very much appreciate the sage advice from all of you guys who have responded to my questions.

Oh, and I also have a Model 94 Winchester octangular-barreled .32 Special Long Rifle and a '94 Winchester .32 Carbine that I will be bothering you guys with. And a .22/.22mag Colt revolver, mid sixties. And an old .303 British, and a couple of Ithaca .22 dropping blocks, a 105mm Howitzer, and a Sherman with a Ford motor.
(Kidding about the tank...)

    Glad we could be of some assistance. No matter the current configuration of your Colt, it has something that very very few existing Colt's or Colt collectors have; original parts (the frame, triggerguard strap, and the backstrap) that have a real probability of being with the Seventh Cavalry at some point. That's priceless!
