send it back to Kimber the EXTERNAL extractor IMHO and others is a POS . Kimber at one time would replace with a new slide with a correctly designed internal Extractor . the way John BROWNING intended the 1911 to have .Sorry to sound so blunt but that is just the way I feel.

Turn off your caps lock, its hard on the eyes! Next thing to do is have someone else who is more experienced with 1911's shoot the pistol and see if they have the same problem. With those compact 45's, you really have to bear down and lock your wrist or the gun will jam. You say you are new to handguns so I am inclined to believe it is a shooter problem as opposed to a weapon problem. Don't take offense, those compact 45's are a little sensitive.

I had an ultra carry that did the same thing. I sent it to Kimber and they replaced the slide with one that had the internal extractor. Mine was the same case as yours, I was using UMC at the range. Fed Rem Golden Sabres fine but I was not going to shoot them at the range. Try some different ammo first but I think in the end you will be sending it to Kimber.

did you buy the gun new or used? could it be possible that the gun has very tight tolerances from the factory and just needs a little break in? i have a full size kimber and have never had a problem but i do not have any experience with the small ones. (i'd like to though)

What do you mean by "it stopped feeding shells"? What exactly is happening with the gun? Is it failing to extract? Is the round getting stuck on its way into the chamber? If the empty shells are extracting fine then I wouldn't suspect the extractor. If that's the case then I would expect around a 500-round break-in period.

THE GUN SLIDE STAYED BACK, LIKE IT DO WHEN ALL ROUNDS ARE FIRED OUT OF THE CLIP...BUT THERE WERE STILL 2 UNFIRED SHELLS IN THE CLIP, WHITH THE SLIDE ALL THE WAY BACK, NOT FORWARD...AND YES THE SHELLS FAILED TO EXSTRACT A FEW TIMES(AFTER THE SHELL HAS BEEN FIRED) THE GUN WAS BOUGHT USED AT A GUN SHOW..quote:Originally posted by idsman75
