What magazines would be the best for a 10/22? Any high capacity mags? Best brand for the money?

The best mags for a 10/22 are the stock Rugers. You will not have a problem with them.

Stock is best. If your looking for capacity over factory 10 round, the most common recommended advise is look for Butler Creek Steel lips. They last the longest.

I agree, Butler Creek are super reliable. The Steel lip version the most durable. However, I have some Butler Creek red plastic lips that I have been using for years with no problems.

The crank loader made by Butler Creek is awesome. You can load a 25 rounder in seconds.

I like the stock ruger mags in clear as opposed to the black ones. I just like seeing inside the magazine that way you can detect anything that may cause a feed problem like cocked rounds, bound spring etc.

I will agree that the factory 10rd mags are/should be the most reliable. You do need to make sure you have the spring wound up tight enough.

I have several Butler Creek 25rd "hot lip" mags that I have had for years and thousands of rounds. I had to toss my first one a few weeks ago as the feed lips were shot (no pun). These mags have served me well but I got them when they were $10 each. As I need to replace them I will not be buying more unless the price is right. That is not to say they are bad, but there are better ones out there.

I have heard mixed reviews on Ramline mags. Some people love them and some hate them. I have only ever heard good about BC mags. I have heard mixed things about Eagle brand mags too and I tried one since they are cheep. I know owning one is not a great review, but I don't like it and will not buy more.

Now for the good, better and best in my book.

BC Hot Lips are very good mags. The feed lips are plastic so after tons of use the wear will show. Like I said above I have put thousands of rounds through mine for well over 10yrs now. Price is about $15-20.

BC Steel Lips are better then the Hot Lips mags. You guessed it they are better as the feed lips are steel. With steel lips you will not have the long term use issue like the Hot Lips. Price is about $25

Now for the best http://www.tacticalinc.com/ti25-adva...022-p-532.html . I have one of these mags I picked up cheep from a local dealer. These mags are way above and beyond any other mag I have seen. It is the only non factory mag I can get to fit and feed in my 77/22, not that I ever really use one in it. They also come apart for cleaning unlike other mags. They use the same style parts found inside BC mags but are replaceable if needed. As I replace/add to my stocks they will be with this mag. Down side is price normally at $37 but I see they are on sale right now.

There is one "better" but does not really fit with the question. TI also makes a machined aluminum mag that is awsome, but priced about $65.

    Hope that helps.

I like my older Eagle Mags. I have 2 30 rounders that I bought about 15 years ago. You can stick them together so that you can flip them around when changing mags. The one thing I like about my OLDER Eagles is the magazine release attachment. The reason I stress the word OLDER is that I haven't seen the Mag Release on any of the newer Eagle Mags.

I thought you could send them back to Butler Creek and they would repair or replace the mag for life?

I too have the eagle brand 30rnd of clips and they work alot better than the ramline 40 rnd clips. the ramline double stacks the rounds and some times it binds. Have fun[:)]
