Did Springfield Armory (Geneseo IL) ever consider manufacturing a Mauser style bolt action 28 gauge shotgun years ago? I have heard that prototypes were brought in, but Springfield never put them into production. Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

Thanks

    ive never seen them.
makes no sense. bolts are old hat dead end investments. i cant see a big company wasting investors money on a venture like that...when plenty of single shot, pump and o&u's in 28ga are already out there.
